Item was purchased to connect old PATA 44 pin laptop hard drive to a newer computer using SATA controller for Diagnostics, Virus & spyware cleaning in a Computer repair shop. It is a very unique device and works great, if used in the following manner !!! In order for it to work you will need to purchase a 44 pin male to 44 pin female short cable due to !! IC chip sits next to the 44 pin header on this device and prevents the hard drive from plugging in flush with the header, which prevents the drive from being detected, hard drive connector pins fall short. If you are a tech and are going to use it for this purpose, consider purchasing the cable as well, in order for the device to work flawlessly. The seller should offer the cable for additional charge, or sell it as a package for additional $$$. Cable is available on AMAZON.
