Slot loading - just what I've been looking forJul 22, 2009
I am always a bit apprehensive when purchasing "like new" computer equipment, but this notebook DVD/CD drive was exactly what I have been looking for. I found it as advertised and worked like a charm in my particular application, which is as an external USB drive for a netbook computer. I will be buying another drive as I want a trayless DVD drive for my regular notebook so I don't have to worry about a tray popping out and being hit, jammed, or otherwise broken.
Word of warning: Be aware of what type of drive you are trying to replace or type that you need. This drive has a standard IDE notebook interface. Some notebooks use a SATA interface and some use a USB interface, so check FIRST !! Also, there are a few manufacturers (Toshiba I think) that don't use standard addressing. By that I mean this: In most notebooks the hard drive is the IDE master, and the DVD is the IDE slave. This is not something that is easily changed if it can be at all, so be advised.
Don't worry about this merchant though, they sell what they advertise, and it arrives quickly. I couldn't be more satisfied.
