I bought an HP with Vista and was shocked at how bad the computer worked. A year later it broke and I said "heck" with it and went back to an XP machine, which maybe is the last thing either of these two companies did well... btw Microsoft now says they WON'T be phasing out XP, thank Jeebus! ...They are so broken and lame, soon as Google makes an OS, I am so... :)
Oh yeah, the computer is awesome!! More features than my more expensive vista machine but can actually handle the load ;)
This pc laptop is like the HPs of old, good and durable. (FYI Compaq is HP product)

I never wrote a review. I am writing now because I am so upset with it. Well, maybe it's my fault that I didn't check the description thoroughly. I hope you will.
I bought this product simply because I am in urgent need of a machine with XP. I have considered ThinkPad but that'll take 3-4 weeks so that's not an option for me. The monitor resolution is only about 700x1000 (as I am using my other machine so I can't give you the exact numbers, pls check yourself). Can't believe such low resolution still exists today.
Machines with equivalent CPU, memory and slightly smaller hard disk and much better monitors) [...] would definitely cost less than 1000 bucks (including tax). [...]
So unless you are in urgent need of a XP machine like me, don't buy this -- you'll regret.

This seems to be a very nice laptop that worked as it should right out of the box. I have had no trouble installing my software and using the computer. And Amazon beat the competitor's price so I'm a happy customer.
