The reason I purchased this was to expand my PS3. The problem is that it doesn't work like that(kinda my own fault for not researching further). It is only for storing movies music,pics,and game saves separate from the system's HDD. It's good to store media then put it onto your PS3, but not for HDD expansion. Also is a great device to back your system which I would suggest that every one that has serious amount of game time and media on their system do. You can however use it on a 360 for an alternative save device,but only 16gb. Oh, and it comes formatted for the PS3 which is a plus.I've heard that that can be a pain for some portable hard drives.100$ IS WAY OVERPRICED FOR THIS PRODUCT. I believe I got mine for around 60 bucks months ago when it was on sale. I wouldn't pay much more then that for it.

I am very pleased with this hard drive. It was a simple plug and play operation for the PS3. It has plenty of space and can even be used to back up the PS3 should you wish to upgrade its hard drive. I use it to store pictures and music, and the PS3 can still play the slideshow with music without a hitch.

I gotta say, this external hard drive is really good once you connected to the PS3. Now not all my trophty and other stuff been back up, I can simply change the PS3 hard drive 40GB to the 500GB to download alll the game, music, and Picture. You all should buy this E.H.D. cause it can immediately be recognize to the PS3 once you plug it in and download anything with the hard drive ;)

I purchased this item because my son's PS3 would not recognize other hard drives to back up files. This one was truly plug-and-play. No problems with this item, its worth the extra money for someone that doesn't want to lose files like he did when his old PS3 crashed.
