Garmin all wetJun 29, 2008
By C. Person Was on the deck of my kayak and did not stay waterproof even though it was rated IPX7. I contacted Garmin and got two replies.
1 Thank you for contacting Garmin International. Our units are not 100% waterproof and we do not recommend you using them around water. The flat rate of repair for your unit is $125.00.
2 An IPX7 designation means the GPS case can withstand accidental immersion in one meter of water for up to 30 minutes. However this does not include the unit withstanding moving or rushing water such as a current or rain or any water that may force it's way into the unit.

It was a great gift to my sonOct 17, 2007
By G. Hughes My son loves the GPS device we gave him. He's using the way points and has down loaded the topo map and is so helpful in the foothills and while hunting.

Great for GeocachingJan 15, 2007

Great unit for the sport of Geocaching. What's Geocaching? Google it. This unit works great, is small, lightweight and does everything it is supposed to do. I have purchased 4 of them to date as Christmas gifts to my kids who are also into Geocaching. The best feature is the compass rose with the directional arrow that points to where you want to go. Simply follow the arrow. When you get within 30 feet of your site, the arrow is not so accurate, but you continue on course following the distance readout until the feet to go indicates a minimum. Voila, you are there. Buy it! you won't regreat it.
