The drive had a fair price along with necessary info that it would work on my system. The drive was per-formatted as NTFS & I took it out of the box, windows 7 installed the proper drivers & I begin using it.

I purchased this new drive because the one I purchased five years ago for my HP computer had died. It turns out that it didn't die, I just hadn't pushed it in all the way. LOL Anyhoo, I decided to use this one since it has a bigger drive than the originals that HP manufactured. I copied the new software that comes with this drive onto the old one and gave it to a friend. I have had no problems with this current one and it works like a charm. I use this drive to record all my TV shows onto since they are big files. I also store all my music on it. I have a third drive that I use as a back up just in case something happens. I only keep small files on my c drive so that I can stream files to my smart tv upgrader.

I bought this external drive to replace a 250GB pocket media drive. The former drive worked fine but it was filled to capacity with data. As such, I decided to replace it with the 500GB drive. The new device fits into the drive slot on my HP desktop and starts up with no problems. The drive also comes with a USB cable that allows you to connect it to a non-HP PC as you would any other external hard drive.
The 250GB drive worked flawlessly and I expect the same with the 500GB drive. Had I had any reservations about the performance of this new device, I would have bought another brand. As it were, the decision to get another pocket media drive was an easy one to make and I've been pleased with the purchase.
The pocket media drive comes with a case, cable, and software. The software helps streamline the process of backing up your PC. At about $100, it's a pretty good deal.
