Beware : 90 days warranty only ! Fails after one year. (was:Works fine, but not time or cost effective)Jul 24, 2008

This disc worked fine with an LG GGW-H20L writer. However, it takes several hours to burn the whole disc at 2x. And the BD-RE is not competitive with hard drives given the 50 GB capacity. You can get a 250 GB SATA hard drive for about the same price as this disc as of this writing. The cost per GB should not be 5x that of hard drives.
August 10, 2009 update :
New star rating is one star only.
One year after purchasing it, this disc now gives systematic verification errors when used with the Imgburn program. The disc has had less than 20 full passes and was kept within its protective jewel case when unused.
I called Panasonic support about my problem, and they informed me that their parts only carry a 90 day warranty ! They wanted to charge me $64.99 plus shipping, which was more than what I paid for the original disc. And it's twice the price of a new one from this amazon vendor. Needless to say, I'm disgusted that a single disc that originally costs this much only has such a short warranty. I will not be buying any more discs from Panasonic. Buyer beware !
FYI, I tried to amend the star rating and change it down to one, but Amazon wouldn't let me change it ! I was told by an Amazon rep that this can only be done within 30 days ! Only the text can be changed after that. It doesn't make any sense. A lot of products can fail after 30 days. I'm considering deleting the original review and posting another one, but I haven't done that yet due to the fact that it was marked helpful. I may do so if more reviews are posted on this disc.
March 2010 update : Amazon got to their senses and the star rating can now be changed. Reducing to 2 stars.

expensive, yet fully functionalJan 22, 2010
By ping2low I have purchased 4 of these discs over the past couple of years and haven't had a problem with reading data off any of them. I use NERO 7 & LG GGW-H20L burner, XP & W7. It takes forever to burn & verify (4 hours), but it's well worth the piece of mind knowing that your data will be there unlike a failed drive. I can't stress enough the importance of checking the box to validate your burn during the burn process. I use these for backing up my RAID 5 data partition...just in case. I will occasionally go and pull large files off to verify the integrety of the disc. The disc is great for storing VMware Virtual Machines & video files. While buying a hard drive is cheaper, a disc isn't subject to magnetic interference, moderate temperature fluxuations, simple mechanical failures, and viruses (sorta). Recently, towards the end of 2009, I was able to find these just over $20 after looking on a couple search engines.
If you continue to have issues burning and reading, use google to make sure you're burning the disc with the proper format/ISO/UDF processes and as slow as possible. I believe the BD-RE discs are supposed to be good for an estimated 10,000 rewrites!

Stay away from Panasonic Recordable media - Get Verbatim or Sony, insteadOct 24, 2010
By Ron Rahav Stay away from Panasonic Recordable media - Get Verbatim or Sony, instead.
I record to Blu-Ray media very frequently (more than 400 recordings a year). I have experience with Panasonic, Sony & Verbatim recordable Blu-Ray media. Nearly every Panasonic BDRE disc I have - eventually failed.
To add insult to injury, Panasonic WILL NOT replace them - not even within their VERY SHORT 3 month warranty period (Sony & Verbatim have lifetime warranties)
I have tried (LITERALLY for many hours) to get Panasonic to replace their defective discs - but eventually gave up. I made it as far as the office of the president (in the USA), but they too were unwilling to replace my defective discs.
Only 20-30 rewrites before failure! Caveat emptor!Dec 05, 2009

I concur with another reviewer here. I purchased 6 of these about a year ago and only two remain usable. The rest all failed between 20-30 rewrites. (The remaining functional disks currently have 24 and 25 rewrites respectively) Not worth the high price!

Good BD-REMay 30, 2008
By n0th1n9 Pro: It works great, no poblems here. Windows Vista natively supports Blue Ray for use with data.
Cons: Price.
Tip: Vista SP1 gives better performance with optical media especially Blue Ray.
